Living in a cramped apartment always made hosting a chore for many people I knew in New York. Whenever having people over there’s just never enough furniture and bringing items in and out of storage is usually a hassle too.
I set out to find a solution to this problem by looking at creative ways of creating and storing furniture. I spent a majority of my time studying flat pack furniture and building toys to develop my own modular seating system.
The Pik+Sit system is based on three different kinds of panels that interlock to create larger pieces of furniture or structures. The notching system is adaptable to user needs since there are many possible combinations, and its intuitive design allows users to create their own panels if desired.
When not being used, Pik+Sit can be stored out of the way in a coffee table until the next time that extra piece of furniture is needed.
